The discipline of fasting nourishes the soul

The Bible refers to fasting nearly a hundred times, but the practice remains a discipline that is absent from the lives of many Christians today. It was from mine until a Lent several years ago. I read what religious leaders who practiced fasting had to say about this intentional self-denial, and I decided to experience it myself.

Now I fast routinely. It's a way to feed the soul with stamina and vitality. Here are some ways fasting can nourish Christians during Lent--or any time.
