Beginning at baptism and continuing through high school, St. Peter Lutheran, Mesa, Ariz., uses gifts to remind youth that their church cares. Confirmation is an 18-year program designed to appeal to each stage of a child's spiritual development. The process begins at baptism, where a child is placed in a comforter, a symbol of the Spirit embracing the baby in God's eternal care.
