Lutherans support farm workers in their struggle for a better life

For most people, fruits and vegetables conjure images of healthy eating and a fresh, natural snack. But what doesn't surface for some are the desperate working and living conditions of those who harvest the produce.

During the fall harvest in Dade City, Fla., hundreds of thousands of farm workers bend at the waist, picking fruits and vegetables with both hands to provide food for the country.

The harmful effects of pesticides used on crops are not known to many laborers.
