Conrad J. Bergendoff, widely recognized theologian, historian and former president of Augustana College and Augustana Seminary, Rock Island, Ill., died Dec. 23. At 102 he was both the oldest ELCA pastor (born Dec. 3, 1895) and the longest ordained clergy (from June 12, 1921).
