'We shall not be moved'

Missouri congregation fights airport's expansion into its city

In a David-and-Goliath-type battle, Pastor Dan Barwinski; his wife, Sara; and members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Bridgeton, Mo., are taking on the governing board of Lambert International Airport in St. Louis.

A current plan to expand Lambert means the buyout and destruction of 1,800 homes (affecting about 6,000 residents), six churches and 75 businesses in Bridgeton, a St. Louis suburb next to the airport. This totals one-third of Bridgeton proper.
