Janet Marshall received a prayer shawl from All Saints Lutheran Church, Mason, Mich., only a few days before she died. It meant so much to her that her husband had it draped over her casket at her funeral. Six All-Saints' women — from young mothers to retirees — have knit more than 50 prayer shawls for parishioners and community members since Marshall received the first one just over a year ago. Bette Shellhorn, the former spiritual director of this 150-member congregation, made Marshall's prayer shawl.
