ELCA financial health 'improving'

Richard McAuliffe, ELCA treasurer, is a man who plays things close to the vest. But he's allowing himself a little smile these days.

The financial health of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is "improving," he acknowledges. ELCA income exceeded expenses in 1995 by $6.3 million.
