When I was 17

6 New York teenagers reflect on being 17 this year

When Frank Sinatra crooned It Was a Very Good Year, he had no idea what it would be like to be 17 in the year 2001.

But surprisingly, the classic '60s song that begins "When I was seventeen, it was a very good year ..." still rings true for six optimistic Martin Luther High School students in Queens, N.Y. Recently they gave up calculus and French, study hall and lunch to discuss the events of Sept. 11, the upcoming holidays and the future.
