Lutherans and Episcopalians gave thanks for their joint ministry at Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota last November. They hope the event doesn't mark the end of this ministry. The 1997 ELCA Churchwide Assembly defeated the Concordat, which would have brought Lutherans and Episcopalians into full communion. In September the Episcopal Church in South Dakota called for a moratorium on the joint ministry at Pine Ridge.
