The virgin birth and the Resurrection are accepted as miracles, but casting out demons is often interpreted as first-century psychotherapy. On what basis do Lutherans decide which miracles to accept in faith and which to rationalize? Where is the rapture in the Bible? A bumper sticker reads: "In case of the rapture, this car will be driverless." Images come to mind: pilotless planes, surgeonless operating rooms. It's one thing to visualize two people walking in the field and one being taken, but another to think of a 747 half full, without a pilot. What do Lutherans believe about the rapture?
