D.C.-area Lutherans respond to community losses and fears

Returning from a doctor's appointment, Yolanda Burslie of Lord of Life Lutheran in Fairfax, Virginia, watched from the parking lot as the plane hit her office in the Pentagon. "We are in a lot of pain," says Burslie, one of the few survivors in her department. "It is very difficult. But it helps to know my brothers and sisters in the Church are praying for us…I can't imagine how to go through these times without believing in the God of the resurrection."
