The use of the phrase "Blessing the divorced" was apparently problematic. "Blessing" means "divine approval or sanction." We probably don't win God's approval on that point. But like all sinners, once we have acknowledged our sin and requested forgiveness, we want affirmation that we are still loved as God's people.
