Buying off the kids

'Earn as you learn' doesn't teach the gospel

Our Sunday school gives coins to children for attending classes and worship ("earn as you learn"), which they can use to buy religious items. Does this teach the gospel?

A couple is approaching their 50th wedding anniversary, but they separated for several years during their marriage before getting back together. Should they celebrate quietly, receiving cards, rather than with a big party?
