Felder: Racism tarnishes the gospel

Christians aren't being responsible with the gospel, according to Cain Hope Felder. "Jesus' word was supposed to be spread to the four corners of the earth," he said, "but it's been tarnished with racism and exclusive hierarchies."

Felder spoke at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Multicultural Writers Workshop Feb. 14-18 in Chicago. He is professor of biblical studies at the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C.
