Former camp chief jailed

The former director of Lutheridge Camp and Conference Center, Arden, N.C., Robert L. Troutman, pled guilty Sept. 16 to "four counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor" and is serving a five-year prison term.

Troutman, 67, was an ELCA pastor and executive director of Lutheridge from 1969 to 1991, and later served with Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas. He resigned from the clergy roster Aug. 11.

"I am truly sorry for my actions and sincerely regret the consequences they have caused and will cause," he said in his resignation letter.

Keith Johnson, executive director of Lutheridge, said, "It has been nine years since [Troutman] was executive director [here], and we have no evidence of any similar incident here at Lutheridge."
