Members of University Lutheran Chapel, Berkeley, Calif., voted unanimously on Sept. 19 to extend a call to Jeff Johnson. A 1988 graduate of Pacific Lutheran Seminary, Berkeley, Johnson, who is gay, was ineligible for ordination in the ELCA because he would not promise to be celibate.
