God calls us to see their faces and join a holy work

Late last year an elderly woman crawled in the dirt to the feet of Joseph Bvumbwe, bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi. Showing the respect due elders in his culture, Bvumbwe crouched to her level to hear her two-word message: "Thank you."

"I am looking after 26 grandchildren," the woman told him. "My children are all dead. You provide food and clothes for four. I still have 22 more, but I want to thank you for feeding and clothing those four."
