High school social worker Mike Engel talks to teens daily who have been teased, picked on, bullied or ignored by peers. Often their tormenters believe they are merely having the same kind of "harmless" fun that is applauded or rewarded on hit TV shows such as The Weakest Link or Survivor.
What these harassers may not know, Engel says, is that children who are teased or bullied often suffer depression from repeated incidents. They are also at a greater risk for suicide.
