Jeremy Fowler-Lindemulder is a buffalo hunter of sorts. When the Oklahoma chapter of The Nature Conservancy decided to raise money to boost awareness of the state's landscapes and streams by having artists buy and decorate some 100 fiberglass bison, he set out to bag one.
There was one problem: The Nature Conservancy guidelines didn't allow religious-themed designs. But that's precisely what the member of St. John Lutheran Church, Shawnee, Okla., where is wife, Karen, is pastor, had in mind.
"As soon as I read that I couldn't do it, I decided that's what I would design," Fowler-Lindemulder said. "But instead of calling it religious, I called it 'historical.' "
