Changes for Anglicans

By a 378-8 vote (with 25 abstentions), the Church of England’s governing body approved a motion allowing the ordination of women bishops by November 2014. Bishops also approved written guidance for parishes that reject the consecration of female clergy. The moves follow nearly two decades of conflict on this issue, including a 2012 ballot that fell six votes short of allowing women bishops.
