Bloomberg veto criticized

Muslim-American leaders decried New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's July 23 veto of a bill that would have created an independent inspector general to oversee the New York City Police Department. Passed June 27 by the New York City Council, the bill responded to controversial NYPD policies after reports of officers targeting mosques, Muslim businesses, organizations and students for surveillance.
