About 350 youth and adults participated in the synod's annual 2013 Helping Hands Day. Participants cleaned beaches, marshlands and streets in Ocean County, N.J. The day was a cooperative effort of the synod and the New Jersey Synod, Lutheran Disaster Response-affiliated social ministry organizations, Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey and Lutheran Congregational Services/Liberty Lutheran in southeast Pennsylvania.
