Each year my wife, daughters and I raise a few lambs at our home just north of Fergus Falls, Minn. In the fall we look for ways to market the lambs in our area. A couple years ago we ran an advertisement in the Pelican Rapids, Minn., newspaper.
In recent years, many Somalis have moved to that area to work at a large turkey-processing plant. Traditionally, Somalis purchase a sizable amount of lamb for their cooking. We hoped to establish a relationship with these potential buyers, not only for that year but for the future as well.
