St. Paul Lutheran, Pomaria, S.C., a 251-year-old church, lost its historic sanctuary and parish building to fire on Jan. 10. The cause was unknown, but it spread so quickly that little of what was inside could be saved. Three days later, approximately 600 people gathered on the church's front lawn for Sunday worship. Many of them were visitors surrounding the congregation with love and support, and assuring them they aren't alone.
