Scotland will allow same-sex weddings as early as 2015 — the first country in the United Kingdom to do so.
"We are committed to a Scotland that is fair and equal," said Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, adding that churches and individuals who don't wish to conduct same-sex weddings won't be required to do so.
While the Church of Scotland and the Roman Catholic Church were against the move, other church leaders called the change a relief.
