For children to trust in God and seek to follow Jesus takes one caring relationship with a trusted adult, says Stanley Graven, professor of child development at Southern Florida University, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Tampa, Fla. "Children have to have at least one caring adult in their life to succeed, grow, come to their potential," Graven says. "Spiritual development is a complex dimension of life and especially requires a caring adult."
