Thirty years after a 1982 war led to British rule of the Falklands, Great Britain and Argentina continue to disagree over possession of the islands.
Meanwhile, Methodists in the two countries are uniting in prayers for a peaceful resolution. Leo Osborn and Ruth Pickles, president and vice president of the British Methodist Conference, assured Argentina's Methodists of their prayers "that the rhetoric of confrontation be replaced with a language of peace and reconciliation."
Argentine Bishop Frank de Nully Brown expressed similar prayers and hopes. The islands, 250 miles off Argentina's coast, have rich fishing and offshore oil resources.
