Last November, youth and adults at Lutheran World Federation-member churches in Indonesia recommitted to fighting HIV/AIDS by setting up committees in each of Indonesia's 12 Lutheran churches, teaching confirmands and future pastors about prevention, and raising funds to help people who are HIV-positive.
"I was scared about" HIV/AIDS, said Hesron Hanshen Sihombing, a theology student. "Now I have the courage to embrace an HIV-infected person.
Everybody in the church should be made aware of the stigma HIV carries."
