For the first time the Anglican diocese of Rupert's Land has appointed a Lutheran pastor as its dean, reported the Anglican Journal.
Paul Johnson is the first Canadian Lutheran pastor appointed dean in an Anglican cathedral in Canada.
The Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada have been in full communion since 2001, which means clergy may serve in one another's churches.
Johnson begins his appointment in January, succeeding Dean Robert Osborne, who retired.
