Describing a surge in violence and illegal acts around land ownership in Honduras, the Lutheran World Federation urged the U.N. to intervene and establish a presence in the country "without delay."
Citing evidence that Colombian paramilitary are collaborating with some Honduran landowners, LWF General Secretary Martin Junge said, "Killings and other human rights abuses are being carried out with impunity."
Junge said those who work for justice, like the Christian Lutheran Church of Honduras, and those being forced off the land need international attention.
