According to a Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life report, restrictions on religion have substantially increased for 2.2 billion people (one-third of the world's population).
Governments greatly increased restrictions on religious practice in Egypt, France, Algeria, Uganda and Malaysia.
About 70 percent of the world's people live under significant religious repression. Muslims and Christians were the most sizable groups to suffer harassment, but Jews (less than 1 percent of the world) were persecuted in 75 countries.
