Fall semester Web intern
The Lutheran magazine is looking for a student journalist interested in combining editorial acumen with Web know-how. The internship will provide the opportunity to explore online journalism in the context of a national magazine. This is a paid internship based in Chicago, Ill.
Terms	Aug. 24 to Dec. 23 (18 weeks) 30 to 40 hours per week
Duties	• Keep www.thelutheran.org up-to-date • Prepare each month's issue of The Lutheran for the web • Manage e-newsletter and discussion-host schedule and logistics • Keep breaking news blog up-to-date • Post web ads and provide statistics as requested by advertising manager • Contribute to staff blog • Liaison with database developers • Approve payment of web-related fees • Run monthly site statistics • Monitor user-generated content • Update www.thelittlelutheran.org and www.thelittlechristian.org weekly • Represent three publications in online social networks • Assist administrative assistant with weekly front-page updates and e-newsletter • Liaison with discussion forum hosts • Edit the "on the Web" section of The Lutheran's contents page • Handle all customer service and technical requests for www.thelutheran.org
Qualifications	• Excellent editorial judgment • Ability to work with minimal supervision • Excellent interpersonal skills • HTML fundamentals required • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and InDesign required • Familiarity with Web CMS highly desirable • Understanding of FTP highly desirable • Familiarity with XML export from print-to-web desirable. • Familiarity with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America desirable.
